Subject: Laser printer — same smudge on EVERY page, need this fixed NOW
We print insurance forms and patient paperwork off the front-desk laser printer all day and
suddenly every single page comes out with the same faint ghost-mark and a smudge in the exact
same spot — top third of the page, repeats like clockwork. It's on blank pages too. Toner isn't
empty, we just changed it last month. This is on EVERY printout and we have patients in the
chairs. Please advise ASAP, this is basically a five-alarm fire over here.

Rens' note: "Easy fix — well, easy once you know repeating defect = drum. Self-test page showed the same ghost mark, popped the cartridge, found a gouge on the drum surface. Swapped the drum unit, ran the cleaning cycle, forms print clean. Told Vance it was not, in fact, a five-alarm fire. — Rens"
